Packaging & PPWR: Our Approach to Packaging
As a retail company, we want to make informed choices about our packaging and take the new requirements of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) seriously.
The PPWR introduces new requirements regarding packaging, recyclability, documentation, and manufacturer information. At the same time, the existing obligations under the Packaging Act—in particular registration, participation in a recycling system, and volume reporting—continue to apply in Germany.
We are therefore reviewing our packaging step by step and working to further improve our packaging documentation.
What We Do, Specifically
We source a large portion of our packaging from suppliers in Germany or the EU.
When it comes to new packaging, we pay closer attention to:
- Transparent Material Specifications
- Recyclability
- clear material identification
- Technical Product Specifications
- PPWR-Related Conformity Documentation
- Transparent supplier information
For our transparent textile packaging, we are currently evaluating documented alternatives from German suppliers. It is important to us that the packaging is not only well documented from a regulatory standpoint, but also continues to present our products in a clean, protected, and high-quality manner.
Why We Continue to Use Transparent Packaging
Our products—particularly nylon stockings, garter belts, and fine textiles—must be protected while also being displayed prominently. We also evaluated paper-based alternatives, but they were not suitable for our products in all cases.
That is why we are looking for a solution that combines both: high-quality product presentation and well-documented, recyclable packaging.
Our Responsibility
We know that sustainability in the textile industry is a complex issue. That’s why we’re starting where we can have a direct impact: with the selection, documentation, and recyclability of our packaging.
Our goal is to avoid unnecessary packaging, carefully select appropriate materials, and accurately document our packaging data.
